IMPACT Pre-Orientation

What is IMPACT Pre-Orientation or Pre-O?
Introduced over 15 years ago, IMPACT (Influencing and Maximizing Positive Academic and Campus Transitions) began as a pre-orientation program intended to assist incoming students of color in finding a larger community at a predominantly white institution. In an increasingly globalized world, IMPACT’s mission and reach has since broadened. The purpose of today’s IMPACT program is to empower all students to lead a diverse campus community that is welcoming to everyone. Participants should be committed to helping create a positive environment and genuine appreciation across cultures and viewpoints, grounded in civil discourse and respect. Participants will benefit from early connections with peers, more in-depth access to success strategies and resources, and strong peer mentoring. This program is highly recommended for students who are seeking a little extra support in navigating higher education.
Students will participate in team and bridge building activities, discussions about active listening and empathy, and locating resources regarding campus culture and civil discourse. Our hope with IMPACT is that students will begin their time at Wesleyan feeling confident, empowered and reassured in their ability to navigate this next chapter of their lives.
IMPACT 2026 will take place from Sunday, August 16 through Tuesday, August 18, and full participation is essential in meeting our program goals. If you register, please plan to move in on the morning of Sunday, August 16. Following IMPACT, all new º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ students will participate in Turning Titan Orientation, scheduled to begin Wednesday, August 19.
